FPLC is a design and technology company working with forests, urban green systems, landscapes, historic park environments and protected natural areas. Our practice combines forestry engineering, landscape architecture and territorial planning with field research, spatial data and the development of geoinformation systems.
The same territory can be understood in several ways at once: as a physical landscape, a living ecological system, an asset that has to be managed over time, and a body of information that has to remain reliable and usable. Our work brings these perspectives together rather than treating them as separate tasks.
We work with territories as physical landscapes, managed assets and data systems at the same time
Forestry engineers, landscape architects, planners, arborists and GIS specialists work within the same project process. Field observations inform analysis; analysis informs planning and design; the same information can later become the basis for inventories, monitoring, management systems and future updates.
Field research and primary data come before software
We begin with the territory itself. Field surveys, inventories, archival and documentary research, spatial analysis and existing records are used to establish what is actually there, how it functions, what condition it is in and what constraints shape its development.
From this evidence we develop planning and design solutions at different scales: forest-management and urban-forestry programmes, landscape and territorial plans, historic landscape projects, protected-area studies, concepts, design documentation and technical recommendations. We work with commercial clients, municipalities and public authorities responsible for forests, landscapes, environmental management and urban green infrastructure.
Digital systems are developed from professional practice, not added to it afterwards
Alongside planning and consulting, FPLC develops GIS tools and data environments for professional and administrative work. This includes digitisation and normalisation of legacy records, structured spatial databases, inventory systems, WebGIS environments, large-scale data processing, automation of recurring calculations and reporting, monitoring of change and tools for maintaining territorial data over time.
The point is not software for its own sake. Data structures, classifications and interfaces are useful only when they reflect the real professional processes behind them. A reliable digital system therefore begins with methodology: what is measured, how it is classified, how quality is controlled, who updates the information and how that information is subsequently used.
This is also where planning, management and digitalisation begin to converge. A plan may define what should happen to a territory; a management system has to preserve the evidence, priorities and accumulated knowledge that allow those intentions to remain usable through subsequent years, interventions and planning cycles.
The work does not end when a plan or design is delivered
Forests, parks and protected landscapes continue to change after a project is complete. Their condition changes, new information appears, management priorities shift and another planning cycle eventually begins. For this reason, part of our work is concerned with continuity: creating methods, data structures and digital tools that allow accumulated knowledge to remain usable beyond a single survey, project or reporting period.
At the scale of an individual site this may mean a detailed inventory and a structured management record. At city or regional scale it may mean consolidated databases, common standards, monitoring systems and digital environments through which large portfolios of natural and green assets can be understood and managed consistently.
FPLC works across the full distance between field evidence and applied decision-making. Some results are immediately visible: a plan, a design, a technical document. Others are deliberately less visible: a reliable dataset, a methodology, a classification system or a digital environment that allows professional work to continue after the original project has ended.
